CATDOLL: The production company of "The World God Only Knows" officially declared bankruptcy with debts of up to 500 million

Previously, Anime Star had reported on the bankruptcy of Japanese animation production company Manglobe. Now, the news has been confirmed. The official bankruptcy notice has been officially announced, and it has been revealed that the amount of debt has exceeded 500 million yen.

Manglobe was founded in 2002 with a registered capital of 10 million yen. It was founded by SUNRISE producers Shinichiro Kobayashi and Takashi Kawachiyama. It has produced many works such as "The World God Only Knows" and "GANGSTA Black Street", and has also cooperated in the production of animations such as "Rozen Maiden" and "Hayate the Combat Butler". After 2010, Manglobe's business has been mainly based on the animation of "Weekly Shonen Sunday" works and the animation production of original adaptations. In general, although the company has a small number of works, each work enjoys a good reputation in the industry.

The World God Only Knows

According to the Tokyo Shoko Research Institute, an authoritative Japanese agency, Manglobe has officially filed for bankruptcy and entered the bankruptcy review process. According to financial statements, the company has debts of 544.5 million yen. The reason for the bankruptcy is related to the increase in production costs and poor sales. Due to poor management, Manglobe has stopped all business within the company on September 29.

Notice from Tokyo Shoko

Being in the animation industry, one is bound to be affected by costs and sales. Manglobe is just another victim of the commercial wave. I wonder if other animation production companies will take some actions after learning of this news?
