CATDOLL: Japanese writer blasts "KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World" for lack of ambition

The January new anime "KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!" adapted from a light novel was recently singled out by Japanese SF writer Nojiri Hosuke, who believes that if the audience is exposed to too many similar works, it may lead to self-destruction, and that the audience must be "more motivated."

Although light novels are currently facing the problem of an overabundance of themes, is it a bit too much to say that watching anime for entertainment purposes in your spare time is "self-destructive"? It shouldn't be such a serious thing to go home and watch some relaxing anime after get off work or school, right?

SF writer Nojiri Hosuke posted the following on his Twitter: "I watched a certain anime that ostensibly was about reincarnation into a different world, but was actually an unimaginative game world. You could travel with girls without paying anything. It completely comforts the audience who are full of inferiority complexes, but if you feel happy after consuming such works, you will be courting your own destruction. You should at least have some ambition." Although he did not specify the anime, we can tell from the plot description that the target of the criticism is the January new anime "KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!" which is currently being broadcast.

Nojiri Hosuke's Twitter comments

In fact, "KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World" is clearly a work with great educational significance. The protagonist, who was originally a stay-at-home kid, realized the beauty of labor after arriving in another world, and had a full meal with the money he earned, which was very fulfilling and motivating...

Nojiri Hosuke also has a work called "Rocket Girl" which was adapted into an animation in 2007

"KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!" is a light novel written by Akatsume. The story tells the story of the protagonist Sato Kazuma, who was allowed to take one thing with him before being reincarnated into another world after his death. Therefore, Kazuma designated the goddess Aqua who had fooled him. So the goddess was sent to the other world with Kazuma without any psychological preparation, and then embarked on a joyful adventure comedy with other partners.
