CATDOLL: Junji Ito's manga will be adapted into a TV series in China and will be broadcast on iQiyi in 2016

I believe everyone has seen the works of Junji Ito, a famous Japanese horror cartoonist. Many of the horror and bizarre plots in the works are deeply memorable. Now Japan has announced that the works of Junji Ito, a famous horror cartoonist, will be adapted into a live-action TV series in China, and will be broadcast on the iQiyi video station in 2016.

It is reported that Beijing Periles Culture Media Co., Ltd. has reached a cooperation with Asahi Shimbun Publishing, the copyright management party of Junji Ito's works. Periles will adapt Junji Ito's horror comics into Chinese online TV series to be broadcast in China. This online drama is not an adaptation of a specific comic by Junji Ito, but a combination of Junji Ito's works Manhua, which are adapted into online dramas. The list of works includes "Souichi no Victory Hand na Kui", "Shibito no Koi wa Zurai", "Escape Soldier's House", "Roadside", and "Umeku Drain". Of course, the Chinese version of the TV series will definitely change the content. The occupations, stages, and era backgrounds of the characters in Junji Ito's series of works will be localized according to China's situation. This online drama will be broadcast on the iQiyi video website platform in 2016.

Readers who have read Junji Ito's horror comics know that although it is a horror comic, his works are mainly about various strange things. The online drama is said to be a combination of several works, but it can't be too far away from the original, right? And it will also be localized. I wonder if the online drama version will harmonize many contents of the original work and add some original plots that are suitable for Chinese localization? I always feel that it will be a bit dangerous in terms of approval.
