CATDOLL: The United Nations proposes that Japan ban the sale of 18+ comics and games

Previously, the United Nations has made a special research report on various Japanese pornographic comics, and the United Nations has been urging Japan to ban the sale of such anime works. Although the Japanese government has issued a series of laws, the actual effect is not obvious. And it has also publicly stated that two-dimensional works are not included in the "Child Pornography Law". However, the United Nations is not satisfied with this edge ball of the Japanese government and still pays close attention to pornographic comics there. The United Nations subordinate agency will review the issue of women's rights protection in Japan on February 16, and the first issue is that Japan bans the sale of comics and video games related to sexual violence.

The Geneva-based United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women is scheduled to review the "Japanese Women's Rights Issue" on February 16, which involves seven topics. The first topic is about Japan's ban on the sale of sexually violent comics and video games. Since Japan has basically never banned the sale of sexually violent comics and games domestically, it is foreseeable that this first topic will be a criticism meeting.

After the topic was announced, many netizens expressed their attitude towards the UN's move: "The UN is too involved, and gentlemen are complaining." Netizens said, "Why does the UN not consider the problems of women in reality, but points the finger at virtual characters?", "It is said that it is a requirement to ban, but is it really mandatory?". Some people even found out the UN's dark history, where UN staff shared child pornography pictures using the UN email address at work. Anyway, the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women is also affiliated with the UN Human Rights Council. It seems that the UN is really at odds with Japan on this issue, and it is not easy for Japan to pass it smoothly.
