CATDOLL: Parasyte is only on its fifth day, and netizens say it is the youth manga they want to see the sequel of the most

Recently, a Japanese website conducted a survey of 200 comic book readers born in the 1980s, and voted for the seinen comics they most wanted to see the sequel to. Interestingly, Japan also recently voted for the ten comics that most wanted to see the ending. Comparing the two lists, one is reluctant to part, and the other is full of resentment. It seems that being a comic book fan is really not easy!

First place: Initial D

Initial D is well-known in China for its live-action movie starring Jay Chou. The reason why readers want Initial D to be revived is simple, that is, they want to see the car racing of this era in the comics, and want to see whether Fujiwara Takumi and his AE86 can still dominate the downhill race track.

Second place: Dragon Sakura

Abe Hiroshi has starred in a TV adaptation. The manga "Dragon Sakura" tells the story of various exams and study skills, and tells how to prepare for the entrance exam to the University of Tokyo. Many plots in the manga revolve around the psychology of candidates, and readers hope that this work will be revived in order to continue to learn exam skills from the manga, especially since the interviewees are all young white-collar workers.

Third place: 20th Century Boys

"20th Century Boys" is a science adventure manga written by Naoki Urasawa. As of August 2006, the single volume was authorized by Shogakukan in Japan and published by Taiwan Tongli Publishing House up to 22 volumes. The final chapter was completed in the spring of 2007, Japan time. "20th Century Boys" is undoubtedly a masterpiece manga. Readers hope that this manga will have a sequel because they want to know more details of the story, because the readers interviewed feel that the ending of this work is a bit abrupt (21st Century Boys is the name of the final chapter of 20th Century Boys, not a sequel).

Fourth place: "Medical Dragon"

This work taught Duoduo a lot of medical knowledge! It also contains many dark secrets of hospitals...

Fifth place: Parasyte

The reason why "Parasyte" is on the list is probably because the recent movie and animation adaptations have revived this old work, and many people want to continue watching it.

6. “Gantz”

This is a youth science fiction manga written by Japanese manga artist Oh Hiroya. It was serialized in Weekly YOUNG JUMP in 2000 and concluded in Weekly YOUNG JUMP No. 29 released on June 20, 2013. The manga has a cumulative circulation of more than 19.9 million copies. It tells the story of a high school student Kei Kurono who died in an accident and was sent to a mysterious black planet "GANTZ". Together with other humans who came to this planet, they fought against aliens with different shapes...

Seventh place: "A Moment of Reunion"

The earlier comics by Rumiko Takahashi, the author of "Ranma" and "Inuyasha", may not be so popular in China. This work began to be serialized in the first issue of Shogakukan's youth comic magazine "Big Comic Spirits" in 1980. With its realistic and touching emotional depiction, it became a classic in the youth comics of the 1980s.

8. Akira

The animation made this work even more famous. "Akira" (original title: アキラ/AKIRA) is an animated film released in 1988 by Japanese cartoonist and animation director Katsuhiro Otomo, based on Otomo's original manga. The original manga was published in Kodansha's weekly youth manga magazine "Weekly Young Magazine" and was also adapted into a video game. "Akira" has caused a wide response in the Western world and created a wave of Japanese animation. The protagonist in the manga subverts the image of the super hero in Western comics. When people have super powers, they may not necessarily become the embodiment of justice as in the comics. Perhaps we will fulfill our own desires first. "Akira" has caused a discussion on our own human nature.

No. 9: "Waves of Finance"

It has been adapted into Japanese dramas many times. "Naniwa Finance" is a work by cartoonist Yuji Aoki. When funds are not flowing smoothly, financial companies other than banks are another way to quickly obtain large amounts of funds. After joining a financial company, Tatsuyuki Haibara found that the financial industry is a world of intrigue and deception. Despite this, Tatsuyuki Haibara, a newcomer, is still determined to make a name for himself in the financial world...

Tied for 10th place: "Silent Fleet", "Peach Blossom", "Monster"

"Silent Fleet" is a work by Japanese manga artist Kaiji Kawaguchi. It was published in Kodansha's Weekly Morning between 1988 and 1996. It won the publisher's manga award in 1990. It was adapted into an OVA animation in 1996.

The protagonist of "Momoki" is Yukiyo Fujimoto, a man who is about to turn 30 and has no luck with love. One day, his "momoki" suddenly arrives, leaving him at a loss. The plot is lighthearted and funny, and it is a romantic comedy. The adapted film starring Masami Nagasawa won the 7th place in the 2011 Kinema Junpo Top Ten Films.

Two comics by Naoki Urasawa appear on the list. "Monster" has 18 volumes and has been serialized to the end. The work describes a series of horrific murders that occurred in Germany at the end of the 20th century. The tone of the whole work is dark, focusing on the psychological description of the characters. The plot is compact, giving people a tense and depressing horror atmosphere. This work won the 2000 (46th) Shogakukan Manga Award.
