CATDOLL: Animator Wang Honghong is determined to make domestic animation better

Everyone has an animation dream! She started writing novels at the age of 13, published her first collection of novels at the age of 16, became the youngest member of the Chinese Writers Association at the age of 17, and gathered dozens of classmates to establish an animation studio at the age of 18. In her early 20s, the scripts she and her studio members created were adapted into popular animations and broadcast on CCTV and many provincial TV stations... These unusual experiences all belong to a beautiful girl who looks a little shy and weak—Wang Honghong.

On the road of growth, Wang Honghong feels that the most fortunate thing is that her extremely rich imagination has been growing vigorously, not eroded by time, nor destroyed by external pressure. Now, at the age of 26, she runs her own studio very well, but she still writes diligently because "I have a sense of mission and a responsibility to make Chinese animation better and create good works for children."

Wang Honghong, female, was born in 1989. She is a member of the China Writers Association, a member of the Advisory Committee of the China International Film, Television and Animation Copyright Protection and Trade Expo, one of the top ten young people in Guangdong Province in the seventh session, and a young cultural talent in Guangdong Province in 2012.

He started writing literature at the age of 13. He has published a science fiction novel "Wa Niang and Rainbow", a fairy tale novel "Lake Baby", a collection of short fairy tales "The Sleeping Little Fish", a collection of novella fairy tales "The Forest of Divine Wolves", fantasy novels "Three Dreams One" and "Three Dreams Two", a series of mythological novels "King Qilin·Legend of Luming", "King Qilin·Five Qilins" (eight volumes) and a series of science fiction novels "Mech Tornado: Galaxy Wars" (20 volumes in total). He has published and published works totaling nearly 8 million words, and created the original large-scale animated series "Dragon Warrior".

She came from the stars and had many wonderful ideas since she was a child.

When she was little, Wang Honghong, a girl from Jiangxi who grew up in Dongguan, often had her own "daydreams" in class. "When I was in primary school, I sometimes felt that I was not from this earth. When I looked at the watch and thought about the question 'who am I', my brain would enter a blank space." Wang Honghong said that whenever she entered her own fantasy world, many things would come out of her mind to play with her.

This little girl who "always felt that she was not from this world" liked to act spontaneously and often did not follow the teacher's instructions when writing essays. Once, after receiving encouragement from her teacher, she began to write down the strange ideas in her mind, which gradually formed a novel of more than 100,000 words. A year later, with the support and encouragement of her father, Wang Honghong published her debut novel "The Forest of the Divine Wolf", which caused a great response. With this book, Wang Honghong won the 15th Guangdong Newcomer and New Work Award. In her own words: "Since then, I have embarked on a journey of writing."

After that, Wang Honghong wrote more than 40 short stories, two novels and two collections of fairy tales at an astonishing speed.

She worked hard to start a business in college and treated one year as three years

Wang Honghong believes that everyone has their own unique side, and she is lucky to have discovered and developed her unique side very early. But she is not satisfied with this. The business atmosphere in Dongguan quickly made her transcend her emotions and start to think realistically: Can I support myself by writing in the future?

Wang Honghong, who has a specialty in art and likes to watch Hayao Miyazaki's animations, naturally thought of starting a business related to animation. In her first year of college in Guangzhou, the 18-year-old Wang Honghong established the "Sanmeng Animation Studio". She gathered dozens of senior students on campus and rented a top-floor house in a village in Panyu, and started her entrepreneurial journey.

During those days, Wang Honghong had to deal with various chores in the studio and write, and she could only sleep three or four hours a day. "All the way here, I have treated one year as three years, and I have taken on too much." Wang Honghong summed up this way when she looked back at her entrepreneurial journey.

With literature in her left hand and animation in her right hand, she wants to create good works for children

After graduating from university, Wang Honghong, who likes freedom and independence, returned to Dongguan and founded her own "Honghong Animation Creative Studio". With literature in her left hand and animation in her right hand, Wang Honghong created "King of the Unicorn" with the background of Qingxi Hakka culture, and developed and produced a series of derivative products, which were very popular.

Wang Honghong's most famous work is the animated film "Dragon Fighter". The first part of "Dragon Fighter" was broadcast on more than 60 TV stations including CCTV, and has topped the animation hit list many times; the second part "Dragon Fighter Star Dragon Sanctuary" also had very good ratings, with 6 billion online on-demand views. In addition, the derivative products of "Dragon Fighter" have involved online games, toys, stationery, clothing and other fields, and the derivative products produced by some companies are out of stock.

Although she has gained a lot in the business field, Wang Honghong's most desired prospect is to gradually grow into a brand in the field of animation production, just like her favorite animation master Hayao Miyazaki and his "Studio Ghibli". "I don't have any lofty ambitions, nor do I have a great desire for money. Now I have more of a sense of mission, to contribute more to animation, and to have the responsibility to make Chinese animation better and create good works for children."

Wang Honghong is one of the "Top Ten Youths" in the province, an entrepreneurial mentor, a young cultural talent, a member of the Youth Federation, and now she has been awarded the title of Dongguan City's Famous Artist Promotion Target... Wang Honghong has so many enviable halos on her head that she is more mature and wise than her peers. However, Wang Honghong said that she does not want to be bound, nor does she like comfort. All she does is because she has "a heart that wants freedom."
