As a director, Xu Zheng said that he would start to get involved in animated films. He will join forces with director Ning Hao to create an animated blockbuster "Crazy Nian Beast". Recently, the first concept poster of this work "Ignite the New Year" was released, and it was announced that this animation will be locked in the 2016 Lunar New Year period.

Directed by Zhang Yang, the special effects director of Crazy Stone and the chief director of the animation City of Wisdom, with Ning Hao as producer and Xu Zheng as supervisor, the animated film Crazy Nian Beast has assembled what can be said to be the strongest production lineup of Chinese films at present. The first concept poster of Crazy Nian Beast, "Burning up the New Year", is designed with the theme of the Nian Beast lighting firecrackers, but there is no image of the Nian Beast on the poster.

When asked why they chose to continue their collaboration on an animated film after the huge success of "Heart Flower Road", directors Ning Hao and Xu Zheng both said that the target audience of Chinese animated films released in the past were mostly concentrated in the younger age group, and the plots and overall style were generally childish, making it difficult to take into account the viewing experience of both children and adults like Hollywood animations. The emergence of the "Nian Beast" will change the audience's perception of domestic animated films. Xu Zheng also said: "'Crazy Nian Beast' will break the limitations and become China's coolest, happiest, and warmest family-friendly animated film."
